August normally means we’re wrapping up our summer and thinking about the upcoming school year. But when we board the plane on August 6th we wont be heading back to work. Instead, we’ll be headed to Quito, Ecuador where we will jumpstart our long awaited year off! For the next 11 months we’ll be backpacking around South and Central America. We have a tentative outline and lots of room for flexible traveling. To start, we’re taking six days of Spanish classes in Quito. Next, friends will join us for two weeks and then we have two more weeks to finish out time in Ecuador before we head to Peru. In Peru, after acclimating in Cusco, we start by hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. So far that’s all we have planned! We have ideas of what we want to see and do and hope to meet travelers along the way to learn about the spots to go and which to avoid. We hope to use this blog as a place to keep family and friends up to date on our travels. Check back for travel stories and our updated itinerary.
